Community police

Over the past several semesters, community police officers have been visiting adolescent level classrooms to deliver education on digital citizenship, social media behavior and online safety.

The education sessions addressed dangers and responsibilities on social media, digital footprints, privacy protection, online bullying and responding to inappropriate communication.

Students also had the opportunity to ask anonymous questions, which proved both popular and useful. Some of the questions received included:

"What should you do if some creep is stalking you?"
"Can police see everything you put on Snapchat, even after you've deleted it?"
"What should you do if someone is harassing you online?"

The questions clearly showed that teenagers have many questions and concerns about the digital world, leading to valuable discussions about online safety, responsibility and dangers.

The education program was very successful, and we thank the community police for their important work and collaboration.
